How we approach a story.
A useful starting point
Each guide begins with something you can observe: the path through a kitchen, the shadow beside a window, or the edge of a building. Examples help explain an idea; they should give you a question to bring to your own space.
Sources and advice
Articles link to external guidance where it informs the subject. Rules for access, construction and historic buildings vary by location. Check the requirements for your project and ask a qualified professional when a decision calls for one.
Photographs
Photographs illustrate the subject of each article. Captions identify the photographer and link to the source and licence. They do not imply that a pictured home or building was visited for the story.
Corrections
A useful correction identifies the article, the passage in question and a source that supports the change. For a photograph, include the image or its credit so the enquiry can be checked against the right source.
